Patoranking, a Nigerian reggae-dancehall singer, songwriter, and performing artist, has become a prominent figure in the Nigerian music industry with his unique fusion of dancehall, reggae, and African percussion. His popular releases include “Alubarika,” “Girlie O,” “Girlie O Remix” (featuring Tiwa Savage), “Happy Day,” and “Daniella Whine.”
Born the oldest of five, Patoranking grew up in a Lagos slum, Ilaje, where his family faced extreme poverty, leading him to sell goods in traffic at the age of 13 to support them. Before his solo career, Patoranking worked behind the scenes with African artists like X Project, Konga, Slam, and Reggie Rockstone, learning about music creation and hard work. His collaboration with Timaya in 2013 on the song “Alubarika,” which means “God’s blessings,” marked his breakthrough and symbolized his journey from hardship to success.
In 2014, Patoranking signed a record deal with Foston Musik, releasing hits like “Girlie O,” its remix, “Happy Day,” “Daniella Whine,” and “My Woman, My Everything” featuring Wande Coal. His music has been well-received, earning him the prestigious Next Rated Award at the 2014 Headies Awards and Best New Act of the Year at the City People Entertainment Awards. Patoranking has garnered 16 nominations and 8 awards, including at the Channel O Music Awards, and has performed internationally in Mauritius, New York, Tanzania, and London.
