Edwin Yearwood

Edwin Yearwood is a gifted singer/songwriter and the charismatic lead singer of the band krosfyah, known for his engaging stage presence and ability to connect deeply with audiences. His journey in music began at age 14 when he won the Teen Talent Competition in 1983, showcasing his extraordinary talent from a young age. In 1995, he achieved an unprecedented feat in the Barbados carnival scene by winning the Calypso Monarch, Party Monarch, and Tune of the Crop Monarch, a record that remains unbeaten.
Yearwood’s success continued with international recognition, including being awarded the keys to the city of Boston in 1996 and receiving Trinidad’s Best Song award for ‘All Aboard’ in 1997. He made history again in 1998 by winning the ‘World Soca Monarch Title’ and in 2001 by claiming the Road March title at the Kadooment festival in Barbados with a slow jam, a rare achievement.
His career milestones include signing a six-album deal with VP Records in 2005, the first Soca act to do so. This was marked by his debut full-length project, Next To You, that same year. Yearwood continued his winning streak with multiple titles at the Barbados Music Awards and International Soca Awards, including Road March and People’s Monarch in 2008 and 2009.
In 2010, he placed second in the Party Monarch Competition with his hit “Chrissening” and won the Music Video of the Year at the 2011 Barbados Music Awards, adding to his impressive tally of accolades and confirming his status as a leading figure in Soca music.
