Over the course of four nights, fans packed into three venues along the Northeastern U.S. for Romain Virgo’s “The Gentle Man Tour.” From Toad’s Place in New Haven, CT to back-to-back shows at the Crown Hill Theatre in Brooklyn, NY and The Ave in Philadelphia, PA, the reggae artist presented stunning, career-spanning performances in support of his new album, The Gentle Man. Night after night, for hour-and-a-half-long sets, he weaved new material seamlessly into time-tested crowd favorites. And audiences never shied away from chanting and jumping along, a communal experience so energetic and loud that each evening felt like a homecoming for Romain.
Romain was, of course, not without help. Each night, he was supported by his seven-piece band, which included the vocalists Janeel Mills and Tori Lattore, who, as opening acts, won over the crowd with a mix of original music and classic reggae covers. The various DJs kicked off each show with early evening jugglings: DJ Buck & Bojangles opened in New Haven; Platinum Kidz on the first night in Brooklyn; Rory Stonelove on the second night in Brooklyn; and Young Genna and Solomonic Sound System in Philadelphia.
“Thanks to the fans and to everyone involved in making this tour the success that it was. I’m overjoyed to have been able to bring this experience to my supporters. I can’t wait until next time,” said Romain Virgo.
Richard Lue of VP Records added: “It was an incredible honor to work with professionals like Romain and his team to put these shows together. He deserves all the success that comes his way. I would also like to thank the sponsors for their support: Jamaica Tourist Board, Victoria Mutual Money Transfer, and Victoria Mutual Building Society.”
