Today, globe-trotting reggae artist Alborosie has announced his ninth full-length album Nine Mile, out October 24 via VP/Greensleeves Records.
Taking its name from the rural Jamaican village where Bob Marley was born, Nine Mile finds Alborosie returning to the roots that first sparked his creative fire. The album also reflects sounds he absorbed across years of global touring. Written and recorded at his Kingston-based Shengen Studio, home to vintage gear once owned by pioneers like King Tubby, the album moves between lovers rock, roots reggae, and cross-cultural fusions, weaving in bossa nova textures and reimaginings of Jamaican classics.
As a preview, Alborosie releases “Trench Town Legend” today. The track meditates on reggae’s global reach and influence, interlacing lines from Marley and the Wailers into a heartfelt tribute to the birthplace of reggae. Its accompanying visualizer blends an intimate studio performance with street shots of Trench Town, from where many reggae legends have emerged
Lyrically, Nine Mile spans desire, heartbreak, social frustration, and tributes to Alborosie’s musical heroes, tying his own experiences to wider conversations about culture and change. The album follows 2023’s Destiny, which featured collaborations with Buju Banton, Kabaka Pyramid, and Jaz Elise, and extends a catalog Alborosie has been building since his 2008 debut Soul Pirate.
Fresh off a summer tour of over two dozen dates with his Shengen Clan band, Alborosie hit stages across Europe and the U.S., with highlights including Summerjam Festival in Germany, Reggae on the River Festival in California, and a headlining show at Sony Hall in New York City. Just announced are two more legs: a Latin America tour this fall, including shows in Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Colombia, and Costa Rica, and the Nine Mile Club Tour across France and Luxembourg in spring 2026.
Nine Mile is out October 24. “Trench Town Legend” is available now.
