Yellowman, born Winston Foster in Negril, Jamaica, is one of the most recognizable figures in Reggae and Dancehall from Jamaica. As a pioneering figure in the world of dancehall and reggae, Yellowman’s pattern and style of lyrical delivery shaped the sound of some of the most famous songs from his era.
Known too for his energetic performances and distinctive voice, he is one of the original Kings of the Dancehall as decided by fans who named him King Yellowman because of his dominance in the 1980’s.
Yellowman released a series of iconic albums including “Zungguzungguguzungguzeng,” which was released in 1983 and featured the lead single of the same name. This album is considered a classic in dancehall solidifying Yellowman’s status as a trailblazer.
Following the success of “Zungguzungguguzungguzeng,” Yellowman continued to release influential albums through VP Records, including “King Yellowman” (1984) and “Nobody Move, Nobody Get Hurt” (1984). These albums and more established him as a leader in the genre.
