VP Records participated in the Jamaica Strong benefit concert held at UBS Arena in New York, an event organized to raise funds for those affected by Hurricane Melissa in Jamaica. The concert took place on Friday night and drew a near-capacity audience of approximately 18,000 attendees.
The event featured performances from Shaggy, Sean Paul, Kes, Inner Circle, Ky-Mani Marley, Tessanne Chin, Aidonia, Chronic Law, T.O.K., Gramps Morgan, Richie Stephens, Mikey Spice, Maxi Priest, Tee Jay, Kevin Downswell, and others. Opening performances included Yaksta, Abby Dallas, and Aiesha Barrett, who performed the event’s theme song, “Jamaica Strong.”
As the concert concluded, many of the performers returned to the stage alongside Jamaica’s Minister of Culture Olivia ‘Babsy’ Grange, U.S. Congresswoman Yvette Clarke, and VP Records co-founder Patricia “Miss Pat” Chin, who walked out with her sons Christopher Chin and Randy Chin for a rendition of the Jamaican National Anthem.
An additional hurricane relief benefit concert, Stay Strong Jamaica, is scheduled for January 2, 2026 at Hard Rock Live at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida. The event will continue fundraising efforts in support of recovery and rebuilding initiatives in Jamaica.
