The new mini documentary Alborosie Meets The Wailers United: The Making Of “Unbreakable” has launched today on AXS. The documentary gives fans an inside look at the production and process of making his seventh and most important studio album project to date, which was released this past June.
The documentary includes personal testimonies by Alborosie himself, along with commentary from Aston Berrett Jr, son of Aston “Family Man” Barrett (Bass Player Of The Wailers) and nephew of the late Carlton “Carly” Barrett (Drummer Of The Wailers), Guitarist of The Wailers, Junior Marvin and multi-talented musician, Tyrone Downie, who feels the project will “go down in musical history as a landmark album.”
Recently obtaining over 6.3 streams, “Unbreakable” features a slew of features by reggae greats such as Beres Hammond, Chronixx, Jah Cure Raging Fyah and more. The latest single “Unforgiven” is a powerful reggae interpretation of 1991 Metallica rock ballad “The Unforgiven” featuring Raging Fyah. Taken from self-titled breakthrough album (Metallica), the song adds a new edge to the album that addresses contemporary issues with a thoroughly modern feel while still honoring traditional reggae sounds. The video will be released in the next month. “I’ve been a Metallica fan from 1989, at a tender age and ‘Unforgiven’ is one of my favorite tracks,” says Alborosie. “I always wanted to do a rock metal cover in a reggae style.”
“We all came together to create magic, its such a great experience and a privilege and honor to me,” Alborosie states at the end of the documentary. “It is the beginning of a new time and I love it and I can’t wait to push it out, so the world can hear Unbreakable.” |
