Raging Fyah, hailing from Kingston, Jamaica, is a five-piece band known for their roots rock reggae tradition, blending classic reggae influences with modern dancehall elements. The band received acclaim for their sophisticated harmonies and songwriting in albums like Judgment Day and Destiny, both released through VPAL Music, drawing comparisons to reggae legends like Aswad, Steel Pulse, and Third World.
Band members Pele, Demar, and Anthony Watson, who studied music at Edna Manley College under Ibo Cooper of Third World, formed the band with guitarist Courtland “Gizmo” White in 2002, originally as Inside Out, before renaming to Raging Fyah in 2006. The band initially gained experience backing artists at major Jamaican shows, transitioning to original music with the addition of lead singer Kumar Bent in 2010. Raging Fyah’s debut album, Judgement Day, released in 2011, quickly gained popularity and international recognition, with hit singles like “Judgement Day” and “Far Away.”
They became renowned for their dynamic live performances, participating in major festivals like Rebel Salute and Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival, and headlining reggae festivals in Europe. Their second album, Destiny, released in 2014, was recorded in various locations including Poland and Jamaica, showcasing their evolving sound and commitment to positive, reality-based lyrics. With their third album, Everlasting, which debuted in 2016, Raging Fyah continued to promote messages of love, peace, and empowerment, and maintained reggae as the heartbeat of their sound.
