VP Records is excited to announce that it is once again partnering with New York City’s City Parks Foundation for another season of the Capital One City Parks Foundation SummerStage series. This year, VP presents The Dub Rockers Roots Reggae Review, bringing the sounds and messages of modern reggae music to a free concert at Central Park’s Rumsey Playfield in New York, NY on August 12 between 6pm to 10pm.
This year’s line-up features Anthony B, Chuck Fender, F.Y.A.H., Blvk H3ro, Soul Rebel Project, Jamrock Starz, and DJ Empress Breeze. The showcase underscores the original mission of SummerStage, which for nearly forty years has been to highlight genres that represent the cultural fabric of New York City. The annual series has since become the city’s largest outdoor performing arts festival.
The concert will also mark the official revival of VP’s Dub Rockers imprint, originally launched in 2011 with the intention of nurturing the connection between Jamaican and International reggae artists and audiences. Dub Rockers aims to bring together established reggae artists and producers as well as introduce new talents to the world of reggae and dub.
Bringing the Dub Rockers vision to SummerStage will be F.Y.A.H., the latest project of Delroy “Pele” Hamilton, a co-founder, leader, and bassist of the Jamaican band Raging Fyah. Pele is joined by bandmates guitarist Nicolas Groskopf and vocalist Elton Earlington, all of whom worked on F.Y.A.H.’s debut album, “Free Your Authentic Heart,” featuring a dozen new tracks set for release later this year.
