Following the press announcement last week, Romain Virgo kicked off his “LoveSick” Album release and UK/European tour on Sunday March 25th at Sangster International Airport. The performance commenced at approximately 11:15am at Café Blue close to the security check-point and what was expected to last for 30 minutes, became a 45 minutes performance enjoyed by departing passengers, well-wishers and staff alike.
Romain then did a second performance in the Central area post-security for another 45 minutes. Some lucky passengers and staff received complimentary copies of the album, signed on spot by Romain. Patrons who purchased the album which are available at the Tuff Gong Trading store in departures also had their copies signed. The singer and team then relaxed in Club Mobay prior to departing to the UK.
This pop-up performance was arranged between VP Record’s Director of Business Development Richard Lue and the management of MBJ Airports Limited. This will be the first of many pop-up performances with VP Records artists in the future. VP Records has also supplied MBJ with a playlist that will be heard by passengers of the airport. “This is the first of what we hope to be a regular experience at MBJ,” said Marketing Manager of MBJ Sharon Hilsop.
“We are very proud to be associated with one of the top airports in the Caribbean and in the country where many of our artists are from and reside,” said Richard Lue. “We hope to continue this partnership by delivering an amazing entertainment experience for everyone who witnesses any of the future performances.”
MBJ commemorates its 15th Anniversary this April as the operator of Sangster International Airport under a concession agreement with the Government of Jamaica, and this is the first of several activities to celebrate this milestone. The airport is the largest in Jamaica, with over 4.2 million passengers using the airport in 2017 and used by the majority of visitors to the island.
