Barrington Levy sings praises unto the most-high on this mystical stepper produced by George ‘Powerhouse’ Phang. Originally released in 1983 “Praise His Name” was championed by U.K. Soundsystem operator Jah Shaka and it soon became one of his signature selections, with Sly Dunbar’s rolling toms and Robbie Shakespeare’s deep bass enriching Levy’s reverent lyrics, pressed loud and clean on a heavy slab of 12” vinyl it had all the ingredients to become a ‘Shaka Killer’. This Roots anthem is now available on streaming and digital platforms including the 12” Discomix plus 7” vocal and dub edits.
We have unearthed an unreleased 7” single from back in the day by the mighty Junior ‘One Blood’ Reid which we have now unleashed on all digital streaming platforms! “Mother Move,” originally slated for release in 1985, this vocal mix was included on Reid’s crucial LP Boom-Shack-A-Lack however the Dub mix from Prince Jammy (who would later become the digital Dancehall master King Jammy) has only just been uncovered. Reid sends out a lyrical big-up to all the strong Mothers working hard to make ends meet, all backed by a classic slice of Rub-a-Dub built by the Hi-Times band. To complete the digital-only package, an extended disco mix with the vocal mix echoing into the heavy Dub mix is included.
