2-time GRAMMY® Award winning, and Diamond-selling dancehall / reggae icon Shaggy performed at the Canadian Football League (CFL) National Awards at the Avalon Theatre in Niagara Falls, Canada. The award ceremony was a part of the 110th Grey Cup celebrations. The awards were telecast across Canada on TSN (The Sports Network) as well as CBS Sports Network in the U.S.
Canada’s love for Shaggy shone through as he took the stage. Opening with his hit single “Mood” featuring KES, fans rocked along with the star while singing the lyrics word-for-word. Earlier this year, Shaggy performed at the IzWe Concert as part of Toronto’s Bank Holiday weekend celebrations with KES, who is featured on the recent hit. The Soca-inspired track was a top performer “on the road” during Carnival and on steaming platforms throughout Canada.
Shaggy earned a top charting hit in Quebec this summer with “If You Like Pina Coladas” a remake of the 1979 pop-rock classic “Escape (The Pina Colada Song),” with longtime collaborator Rayvon and DJ Cassidy. The song was in steady rotation on the Rouge Network with spins peaking in late August. Shaggy is the only reggae artist to receive the JUNO Award (equivalent to the GRAMMYs ®) for Best Selling Album (Foreign or Domestic) for Hot Shot in 2002.
