VP Records Web Show "On The Riddim" correspondents Robin Kurian and Kesley Saul interview Christopher Martin Naomi Cowan performs Photos by @isaywesay and @foxlyfefilmz The first ever Angela Yee Day was held on Wednesday August 28th andbrought out hundreds to Restoration Plaza to witness Power 105.1’s Breakfast Club’s Angela Yee give back to the community with a free event with entertainment and more. VP Records provided four artists featured on Reggae Gold 2019 including Reggae star Christopher Martin, Rising reggae singer Naomi Cowan, Dancehall vixen Dovey Magnum who’s “Juju” is a focus track off the compilation and dancehall artist Noah Powa. Popular artists Hood Celebrityy and Flipp Dinero also performed. The vibes were flowing through the evening with DJ Norie, Suave Luciano and DJ Spice. During the last set of the evening, Christopher Martin performed all of his biggest his including “Cheaters Prayer”, “Big Deal” and his recent single “Life”. To close things off, he surprised the massive crowd with step outs from Red Fox, D Major, Screechy Dan, Busy Signal and Ras Shiloh. The energy was brought to another level. On August 28th 2018, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, officially declared August 28th Angela Yee Day. Yee was also named brand ambassador for New York Public Library. In this role, she encourages residents of the city to sign up for a library card and check out their local branch. During the declaration, Angela stated “This is such an honor for me, as somebody who grew up in Brooklyn.” Fast forward one year later, Angela Yee Day, the event was born.
