Born Kimalie Hyltonin Spanish Town, St. Catherine — and raised in Waterford, Portmore —Malie Donn has crafted a fast-rising career by infusing the standard dancehall framework with a melodic flow, trap-infused production, authentic storytelling and visceral lyricism.
Since breaking through with “V6” in 2023, Malie Donn has steadily built both a catalog and fanbase that directly speak to contemporary discourses surrounding street violence, masculinity and emotional vulnerability. “V6” was the most streamed song in Jamaica on both YouTube and Spotify in 2023, and Malie maintained that momentum with the release of “The Grand Rising” the following year.
That LP, which featured the fan-favorite “7:00,”has collected over seven million streams on Spotify alone. By 2025, Malie translated his streaming success into awards show dominance. He took home best new dancehall artist at the Caribbean Music Awards, as well as best new entertainer at the International Reggae & World Music Awards. That year also brought along a new EP, “Leak the Hard Drive”, which offered up several more bangers, including collaborations with fellow dancehall sensations Govana, Byron Messia, Armanii and Jada Kingdom. True to his status as a prolific creator, Malie has also released a slew of successful standalone singles, including “Cups Up,” “Body Tea,” “Little Miss Grippy,” “Dragga” and “Dungeon.” Blending celebratory bravado and swagger with gripping narratives of ambition and perseverance, Malie Donn’s music doesn’t just capture the realities of contemporary Jamaican youth — it also delivers inspiration and hope to an entire generation of listeners.
Notably, he has also had several songs highlighted by international music business publication Billboard Magazine, including 2024’s “Alive.” Building on the fire and finesse he already packs into his studio releases, Malie is also establishing himself as a must-see performer. In May 2026, he played a sold-out Brooklyn Navy yard show to over 6,000 fans in New York. Featuring a surprise appearance by Byron Messia and a lengthy post-show meet-and-greet line that prioritized intimate face-to-face connection, Malie Donn’s electric show proved why he reigns as the face of dancehall’s new generation.
