Miss Pat Highlights VP Records at New “Jamaica/Jamaica” Exhibit in Queens

Patricia “Miss Pat” Chin, co-founder of VP Records, recently guided NY1 through the new “Jamaica/Jamaica”exhibition at the King Manor Museum in Jamaica, Queens. The exhibit explores the heritage of the local Jamaican community, with sections devoted to music, food, Carnival costumes, and neighborhood life.

VP Records is featured prominently in the exhibit, with early releases and memorabilia on display. Miss Pat pointed out artists such as Shabba Ranks and Sean Paul as she reflected on the label’s growth from a small record shop in Queens in the late 1970s to an internationally recognized hub for reggae and dancehall.

The “Jamaica/Jamaica” exhibition is open to the public at King Manor Museum through December 20. Admission is free.
