Mahalia Reworks Tanya Stephens’ “It’s a Pity” on New Song “Pity”

Mahalia has released a new track, “Pity,” a reworking of Tanya Stephens’ 2004 single “It’s a Pity.” The song is featured on Mahalia’s new seven-track EP, Luvergirl.

Stephens’ original “It’s a Pity,” from her album Gangsta Blues (VP), was voiced on the Doctor’s Darling riddim and became one of the defining dancehall singles of the 2000s. Its plainspoken lyrics and crossover success secured its place as one of Stephens’ signature songs.
