Jamaica’s 2024 Heroes Day celebration on October 21 paid tribute to four legendary figures in the music industry for their outstanding contributions to reggae/dancehall and the nation’s cultural heritage. Bounty Killer (Rodney Pryce), Beenie Man (Moses Davis), Nadine Sutherland and Admiral Bailey (Glendon Orville Bailey), were all awarded the prestigious Order of Distinction (Officer Class) for their pivotal roles in promoting Jamaican music globally. These artists have helped shape the sound of reggae/dancehall over decades, playing key roles in spreading the music’s influence and elevating Jamaica’s presence on the world stage.

The honors were presented by Governor-General Sir Patrick Allen during the National Honours and Awards ceremony at the National Indoor Sports Centre in Kingston. Held as part of the annual Heroes Day celebrations, the event recognized 232 Jamaicans for their contributions to various sectors. The recognition of these four icons underscored their lasting impact on Jamaican music and culture, with each of them continuing to influence the global music scene.
